Welcoming (Back) KWAC to the New ƛ̕ax̌ʷadis Park
(Tl’ awh-ah-dees)
Earlier this month, the City Council approved a five-year contract with Kenmore Waterfront Activities Center (KWAC) to provide a variety of programming and activities that will support access to the water and new public recreation at ƛ̕ax̌ʷadis Park (Tl’ awh-ah-dees). The partnership with KWAC will provide opportunities for the public to participate in hand-powered water sports including canoeing, kayaking, dragon boating and outrigger canoeing, scholarships for those wishing to participate but are financially unable, and two annual park clean up days. In other paddling news, congratulations to the Seattle Flying Dragon Boat Club-Kenmore paddlers, who competed in the Pan-American Club Crew Championships March 16 – 20 in Panama City. We are excited to welcome KWAC and the community back to ƛ̕ax̌ʷadis Park this spring!
Congratulations KWAC!
“This past Sunday I was invited to attend the ACA Annual Membership Meeting via Zoom. I was so surprised and filled with gratitude for the recognition of KWAC in being awarded the J. Henry Rushton Award. This is a national award given for organizational excellence in promoting paddlesports. Thank you to all who made this happen!”
