Canoe and Kayak

Whether you’re new to kayaking or you’re more experienced and looking for a group to train with, the Kenmore Canoe and Kayak Club (KCKC) has a program for you. Ages 10 and above are welcome to join regular practices while learning technique, teamwork and camaraderie. KCKC programs focus on fitness padding along with race training.

Beginners Kayaking class April and May, 2019

In this fun class you can learn the basics of flat water kayaking. Learn proper paddling technique, stability and water safety.

Cost: $100 per month (Scholarships are available)

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm-6:00pm

Requirement: You must be able to swim

Junior/Advanced Kayaking and Racing April, May, June 2019

For paddlers who have mastered the basics of flatwater sprint kayak stroke and are ready for some serious training! We go out for 1-1.5 hours, 8-12 Km, two days a week. Workouts include short intense sprints, medium to long intervals, to the occasional recovery paddle. If you are ready to work hard and improve your conditioning and boat speed and paddling technique, this is the place for you.

Cost: $60 per month

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:45pm-4:30pm

Juvenile, Junior Kayaking for intermediate level: April, May 2019

This class is for those who finished 2 of our beginners classes and ready to work hard and go to the next level.

Cost: $60 a month

Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm-5:45pm

Morning Master Kayak Group 2019/2020

Fitness paddling on our beautiful river! Flat water fitness kayaking is a great way to get low impact, aerobic exercise. We work on building endurance through distance paddles as well as short intense sprints.

Cost:  $60 a month

Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00am-12:30pm

Fee Structure

There are four levels of membership within the Kenmore Canoe and Kayak Club (KCKC). All levels of membership will receive a welcome letter, a t-shirt, and invitation to all seminars as well as all social functions. Please note that all programs require an annual $20 KWAC facilities fee. We also have scholarships available for low income residents of Kenmore.

  • Introductory level $50 @ year

This membership is open to anyone, whether or not you own your own equipment.  A punch card will be issued entitling the member to try three dragon boat practices, and three canoe/kayak practices.

  • Tag-Along level $120 @ year

This membership targets those who have their own equipment and know how to paddle.  They will be able to “tag-along” with any one of the canoe/kayak classes as long as they don’t pose a hindrance to the class.

  • Recreational level
    • $75 @ month/$50 per family member w/o equipment.
    • $50 @ month/$25 per family member with equipment.

This membership includes learn to paddle instructions, training programs and seminars.  The emphasis is on technique and encourages those who wish to focus on the recreational and fitness side of the sport.  This level includes a membership to the SFDBC and a yet to be determined participation amount of time with WhatsSup.  The hope is to provide cross-training between any member who wishes that avenue.

  • Competitive level
    • $75 @ month Nov 15-Mar 1, $50 per family member w/o equipment.
    • $50 @ month Nov 15-Mar 1, $25 per family member with equipment.
    • $100 @ month Mar 2-Nov 14, $75 per family member w/o equipment.
    • $75 @ month Mar 2-Nov 14, $50 per family member with equipment.

This membership is available to those paddlers who have the basic skills of paddling and the desire to continue on a competitive level.  They will have a set training program which will incorporate on the water training as well as in a “classroom” type setting.  They must show a passion for participating on a team and be willing to be involved in growing the sport in the community.  They will be the ambassadors for KWAC and Kenmore Canoe and Kayak Club paddling out of Squires Landing Park in Kenmore, Washington.
