Park Cleanup – June 25, 2016

_MG_9469Calling all paddlers and rowers and friends of the park!

Let’s get together Saturday, June 25th and do a park cleanup at Squires from 10 am to 12:30pm-ish.  If you have a favorite gardening tool(s) please bring it—the city will also supply tools.  KWAC will then host a barbeque following the clean up.  Please feel free to bring something to drink.

Let’s keep our park the great place it is!!

Shop Local!

This Saturday, November 28, is shop local day. The Kenmore Waterfront Activities Center is offering an introductory membership for $50, which will include a punch card for three learn to paddle canoe/kayak sessions and three dragonboat practices. This is good for a year and can be used at Squires Landing Park right here in Kenmore.
Not only is this local but it’s also an excellent way give someone you love an opportunity to get out, exercise and witness the beautiful nature that surrounds us.
To purchase go to kenmorewac.org; under donate add a note and we’ll get you a certificate that you may use or give as a gift.

Waterfront Wednesday!

WEDNESDAY November 11 —– Noon until 3:00 PM

Come enjoy an afternoon paddling with your children (if you don’t have children come anyway).

Since many children are out of school with the Veteran’s Day holiday, we thought it’d be fun to have a hot dog BBQ and paddle just because.  We may have some mini races or perhaps even a scavenger hunt on the water.

If you’re interested or have some fun ideas let us know. If you could let us know how many will be in your group that will give us an idea of how much food to get. Also if you have a paddle and/or a folding chair bring them as well. Contact us at info@kenmoreWAC.org.

Since this is very last minute KWAC will provide the hotdogs and buns if you would bring chips or a dessert to share.  The weather will probably be rain but we have that covered!

Hope to see you!

October Open Practice

KWAC is scheduling open practice sessions for canoe, kayak, and surfski paddlers. Paddlers who own their own equipment are welcome to tag along with those who use KWAC equipment.

All paddlers using KWAC equipment must be KWAC members, have paid their annual facilities fee, be USACK members, and be approved by the KWAC board for the specific boat they would like to use.

Life jackets must be worn or carried in your boat at all times. This applies to anyone (general public or KWAC members) paddling at an official KWAC practice. The practice schedule is designed to integrate with the existing Dragon Boat schedule. Space is limited on the Dragon Boat to 20 paddlers.
